Pre-development test trenching was carried out in relation to a proposed housing development located at lands north and east of Ballyboley Road, Larne, Co Antrim. A total of 38 test trenches were excavated across the site revealing that topsoil directly overlay subsoil within the majority of the site with the exception of the south-east corner of the site where it was discovered that up to 3m of modern infill had been laid down to level the topography in this area.
No archaeological features or deposits were identified within any of the test trenches which were excavated and as such it is recommended that no further archaeological involvement is required.
