Monitoring for a housing development was carried out in phases between 2017 and 2018 at Ballyguile Beg, Wicklow Town. In 2017 a small area of the site for three dwellings was monitored.
In 2018 monitoring of the footprint for 30 houses was carried out and no finds or features of archaeological significance were noted during monitoring of topsoil stripping.
The natural ground comprised a mid-orange/brown subsoil which overlay a shattered bedrock horizon. At the north-east corner of the site where the rectangular building was depicted on the first edition map the ground was completely disturbed from the building of the adjacent housing estate to the east.
