A programme of testing was carried out at the site of a proposed residential development located in the townland of Powerscourt Demesne, Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow. The assessment was undertaken as part of a request for further information related to planning application (Planning Ref.: 17/1300). It follows a previous archaeological assessment report carried out by Faith Bailey of IAC Ltd. in August 2017 and a geophysical survey, which was carried out in January 2018 (Licence Ref.: 18R0026).

The test trenching involved the mechanical excavation of 17 test trenches. The results of testing confirmed the presence of a probable barrow (c. 25m diameter), with three enclosing ditches, on the upper slope of the site. The site appears to have been heavily truncated by ploughing, which has resulted in the removal of the south-western section of the site. No evidence for burial or cremated remains was identified during the testing programme. The site was initially identified during the course of the geophysical survey. No other features of archaeological significance were uncovered during the course of testing.
