Archaeological excavation was carried out at Hiskinstown 1 in advance of the proposed N52 Cloghan – Billistown Phase 2, Turin – Billistown Realignment, Co. Westmeath. An area measuring 750m² was stripped of topsoil and excavated at Hiskinstown 1. The sod and topsoil (F001) measured 0.35m in thickness and lay above the natural orange clay and stone (F002). A total of four areas of non-archaeological features (F043-F046) were identified as areas of natural decayed stone or geology. All of the features identified during the testing phase were cleaned, sectioned and recorded. All of the features were identified as areas of natural decayed stone/geology and were not archaeological in nature.
