Testing on the footprint of a single house site in Glenidan, Collinstown, Co Westmeath was undertaken to comply with a request for further information from Westmeath County Council, planning reference number 17/6273. The development site is located on the northern side of a third class road, c. 2 km east of Lough Lene and 4 km north east of Collinstown, County Westmeath.
There are two archaeological sites located to the south of the site, a mound barrow (WM008-012-) is located c. 100 m to the south and a ringfort (WM008-013-) is located c. 75 m north-east of the barrow.
A total of four test trenches were excavated by machine using a flat bucket in the area of the percolation, the entrance, and two on the footprint of the house site. No archaeological features, stratigraphy or artefacts were recorded in any of the four test trenches.
