Three small test trenches were cut to the south and east of the Aras Brugha building, Dungarvan, to assess the impact of proposed groundworks (17221, 17904) on material of archaeological interest. In one trench the cobbled floor of a post-medieval building overlay garden soil over boulder clay; in the other trenches garden soil overlay boulder clay. No buildings or other remains of archaeological interest were found.
Monitored excavations for foundations and services at the Áras Brugha site, Dungarvan, found surfacing and a drain associated with quayside buildings predating the nearby Devonshire Bridge (early 19th century). The remains are unlikely to predate the 18th century.
