An underwater archaeological impact assessment (UAIA) was undertaken in advance of the River Suir sustainable transport bridge development project. The bridge site location will be approximately in line with Barronstrand Street and in front of the existing Clock Tower. As part of the assessment, a geophysical (acoustic and magnetic) survey was undertaken of the proposed river crossing in which six acoustic and five magnetometer targets were identified within 20m of the proposed crossing. Dive truthing sampled several of these in which no new archaeological sites were discovered in the geophysical and dive survey.
