Two discrete phases of testing of four and eight trenches respectively were excavated to assess anomalies identified during a geophysical survey (180111), carried out by J.M. Leigh Surveys Ltd. The isolated responses were scattered throughout the site, did not have a clear archaeological
pattern, and it was thought likely that these responses represented natural variations in the subsoil. All the anomalies were tested, and no archaeological features were encountered. All the responses were confirmed natural/geological in origin.
