Topsoil stripping undertaken on the footprint of a proposed gas pipeline corridor within the townland of Aghnaglogh (Field 74.10), County Tyrone, uncovered the remains of a levelled burnt mound/fulachta fiadh consisting of two phases of burnt mound activity, 2 troughs, 1 roasting pit and 1 stone alignment. One waste flake of flint was recovered during the excavation. All of the archaeological features were fully excavated. Some of the primary burnt spread material extended upslope underneath the northern baulk of the site. It is envisaged that the remainder of this deposit will be preserved in situ as it was not disturbed during the original programme of topsoil stripping and is currently sited in an area of the pipeline corridor due to be reinstated to its original ground level. Post-excavation works are ongoing.
