Advanced test trenching undertaken on the footprint of a proposed gas pipeline corridor within the townland of Drumaslaghy (Field 58.22) uncovered an 8m penannular ring-ditch with cremated bone and associated features in 2018. The pipeline route was altered to avoid these features which could then be preserved in situ. Monitoring of topsoil stripping within the adjusted corridor uncovered a number of archaeological features including pits, post-holes, stake-holes and cremations pits. All of these archaeological features were fully excavated. Post-excavation works are ongoing.
