Archaeological monitoring occurred as follow-up to works undertaken under the same licence in 2016 and 2017. This formed the final infrastructural installations in relation to the Circular Road footpath scheme. It entailed excavation for the installation of lights at both east and west ends of the route. The road junction at the west termination of the scheme was also softened to allow for improved vehicular sight-lines and traffic flow.
The junction realignment involved widening the southern side of the road, by up to 2m in width and over a distance of 8m. Excavation occurred to 0.3m. The lights pots were extended to west and east ends. This involved box trench excavation up to 0.4m in depth to connect to light stand excavated up to 1m in depth and over an average area of 1m by 0.6m.
No archaeology was encountered.
