Monitoring of the excavation of a service trench to repair a leaking water pipe in the vicinity of National Monument 119, High Cross (SL008-084004-), and within the zone of archaeological potential for SL008-084001, Church and SL008-084002, Graveyard at Drumcliffe monastic centre, Drumcliffe South, Co. Sligo. The work was undertaken on November 28 2018. The proposed works entailed the excavation of a trench along a stone wall property boundary to the rear of a dwelling house to repair a leaking water service pipe. The overall size of the trench was 1.1m north-south by 2m and a maximum depth of 0.5m. The area had been previously disturbed for the insertion of the original pipe. The stratigraphy consisted of grass-covered sod over a dark brown silty clay soil with occasional small to medium sized stones throughout. No archaeological material was noted in the trench.
