A programme of monitoring was carried out on 6 March, 2018 for works within the area of a proposed water treatment plant at Cloontyprocklis, Grange, Co. Sligo. The proposed development consists of a new waste water treatment works of 2,500 PE to serve the town of Grange. The works will provide secondary treatment and discharge into the Grange River. The works were located on the site adjacent to the western boundary of the existing works at Cloontyprocklis townland, Grange, Co. Sligo The southern area of the site is on lowlying ground which rises up sharply towards an east-west ridge where the new waste water treatment plant is to be located. The ground falls off again to the north of the site down towards the area of Grange River.
The entire area of the plant was stripped. Stratigraphy consisted of a topsoil of mid-brown fine silty sand to a depth of 0.3–0.4m overlying a subsoil of orange grey fine silty sand with patches of gravel. On the lower slopes on the northern side of plateau topsoil is deeper ranging from 0.4–0.6m in depth.
No archaeological finds, features or deposits were uncovered during the course of monitoring in this area.
