The excavation of 5 archaeological test trenches was carried out, in response to a request for further information (RFI) by Meath County Council (KA180466), on foot of an application for planning permission at the site. Condition 3 of the RFI related to the archaeological heritage of the site. The request for further information arose from a planning permission application to Meath County Council for a land recovery operation which would entail the reclamation of agricultural land and associated works through the importation and deposition of natural materials of clay, silt, sand, gravel or stone (inert waste) for the purpose of the improvement or development of land in accordance with Class 5 of the Waste Management (Facility Permit and Registration) Regulations 2007¬2008.
Nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered.
