Testing took place at Vesingstown, c.4km north-west of Dunboyne, Co. Meath with regard to a planning application to construct the South Meath Solar Farm. A series of eleven test trenches (T1-T11), with a combined length of c.322m, were excavated across the footprint of the proposed internal trackway and in the locations of geophysical anomalies identified during the survey. The trenches varied in depth between 0.3m and 0.6m. Soil profiles were uniform across all trenches consisting of mid-brown to mid-greyish/brown topsoil which overlaid orange/yellow to grey subsoil with varying stone and decayed stone inclusions.
No archaeology was found in any of the test trenches.
