A programme of test trenching was carried out at the site of a proposed residential development at Priest Town, Kilbride, Co. Meath. The assessment was carried out in response to planning conditions attached to the proposed development (Planning Ref.: AA/170905).
The proposed development area lies within a large, level field, currently being used for arable agriculture. There are no recorded archaeological sites located within the site with the nearest comprising an earthwork (ME051-001) c. 515m to the north.
No archaeological features were identified during the course of testing. No adverse impacts are predicted upon the archaeological resource as a result of the residential development going ahead.
No further archaeological mitigation is deemed to be necessary in association with the proposed development.
