Archaeological monitoring of the construction phase of a windfarm development was carried out at Magheramore and Cregganbrack, Co. Mayo between March and September 2018. There are no recorded monuments within the development site boundary and no archaeology was found during pre-development testing at the site in May-June 2014 (2014:722). The excavation of trenches for underground cabling along the grid connection route between Magheramore and Cloontooa substation was also monitored. The cable route passed through the area of archaeological constraint for MA102-057, a spread of burnt material in wet, marginal land bordering a local road in Srah townland. There was no evidence of the burnt spread within the roadside trench. The only cultural heritage site identified in the Environmental Impact Assessment was a 19th-century double-arch limestone bridge at Derrada/Cloongawnagh. Ducting was placed over the deck of the bridge adjacent to the parapet wall on the south side of the road. There was no physical impact on the structure.
All excavations associated with the wind farm development and associated grid connection were monitored. No archaeology was found.
