The available area of this minor road scheme was previously tested under this licence and this extension covered monitoring subsequent groundworks in 2018. The main greenfield area was excavated into undisturbed subsoil to a maximum depth of 2m. The stratigraphy to the south adjacent to the main road consisted of masonry rubble interspersed with frequent seashells, 19th/20th-century finds including glass, metal and clay pipe fragments. This rested on a possible original sod layer and boulder clay. The ground sloped steeply to the south running into deep peat and silty clay with some rubble fill becoming less frequent to the south. This licence was transferred to Sue Zajac to monitor the remaining groundworks as per the planning conditions.
