Monitoring of groundworks as part of a development in Woodpark townland, approximately 3km west of Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo, took place between 4 and 10 January 2018. The project consisted of the construction of a poultry house with a total of 38000 places for broiler chickens, a new silo and all ancillary site works. The monitoring was a condition of planning permission granted by An Bord Pleánala. There were no recorded monuments within or in the immediate vicinity of the development site, which was located across two fields of pasture.

An access road, which measured 102m north-west/south-east and 4.6-6m wide, was reduced by 0.25-0.55m. The area stripped for the poultry house building, hardstand and silo measured 146m north-east/south-west, 30-32m wide and was reduced by 0.2-1.2m. Below the topsoil and peat were natural subsoils and a number of small areas of modern fill. No artefacts were recovered. Nothing of archaeological significance was in evidence.
