The site lies to the east of properties bounding the east side of Irish Street, at the north end of the town. Planning permission was granted to construct a warehouse.
Five test trenches were excavated to test the footprint of the development and the car parking area to the north.
It became clear that the southern end of the site was originally covered by the range of structures marked on the 2nd Edition 6” but which is no longer standing. A brick and tile floor was exposed at the south end of Trench 1 and the back wall of the structure was exposed in Trench 2.
Otherwise no structures of archaeological significance were exposed and there were no artefacts.
