Monitoring was carried out in February 2018 at St Mary’s Park, Rathkeale, Co. Limerick. The project involved 600m of groundworks to rehabilitate existing pipes in the St Mary’s Park estate. The south-eastern portion of the proposed works took place within the historic town of Rathkeale (LI029-031001-). The housing estate dates to the late 1960s and was built on a sloping, greenfield site to the west of St Mary’s church. At that time the site was levelled and cleared in advance of development. Monitoring of the trenching works exposed crops of limestone bedrock and natural boulder clay. No finds or features of archaeological potential were noted throughout the monitoring programme.
