Archaeological monitoring was completed as part of the resumption of development works at the ‘Sli Na Manach’ development site in Mungret, County Limerick (Ministerial Consent Order No. C000286). A total of 21 new houses were constructed as part of the next phase of development in an area of moderate archaeological potential located at the northern end of the existing development. The 2008 excavation uncovered the remains of three Bronze Age fulachta fiadh, two circular structures, a section of a mill race, three corn-drying kilns and an area of medieval archaeology associated with the church and abbey. This archaeological material was located in the centre and southern areas of the development site.
Monitoring at the northern end of the development site in 2018 found no additional archaeological remains.
