Monitoring of ground disturbance associated with pipe-laying was recommended, however most of the scheme, including that passing through the historic core of Castletown, was completed without the archaeologist being informed and hence little monitoring actually occurred. Pipe laying in the road on the north side of the River Nore, adjacent to a mill (LA016-017002) in Knockanina townland was monitored and this did not reveal any archaeological features, deposits or finds.
