Monitoring of groundworks took place within the Zone of Archaeological Potential for Graiguenamanagh town. Groundworks consisted mechanical excavation of narrow slit trenches associated with the Kilkenny Water Conservation and Network Management Project, Stage 3 Mains Rehabilitation. Work followed a previous archaeological assessment carried out by Annette Quinn of Tobar Archaeological Services in May 2015.
Monitoring was carried out along the two routes of the pipeline, along Main Street and Mill Road, where the pipeline extends through the zone of archaeological potential for Graiguenamanagh historic town.
No features, deposits or artefacts of archaeological significance were revealed.
