An assessment was carried out at the site of a proposed residential development at lands in Bluebell, Naas, Co. Kildare. The site covers an approximate area of 4.2ha and is surrounded by residential and agricultural land to the south-west of Naas in an area of moderate archaeological potential as suggested by the site's proximity to previous archaeological excavations.
Geophysical survey was not carried out at the site due to the presence of a standing crop. Consequently, test trenching was carried out across the site. Test trench locations were spaced c. 10-15 m apart, reflecting the impracticality of carrying out the geophysical survey at the time of assessment.
A total of 29 trenches were mechanically excavated across the site. No archaeological features were recorded in the course of assessment.
