A test excavation was carried out at the site of a proposed housing development at lands in Oldtown, Celbridge, Co. Kildare. The site covers an approximate area of 3.87 ha (10 acres) and had been subject to severe modification by previous construction work activity with several grassed-over mounds of soil and there was extensive contamination with construction debris. A total of eight trenches (900 linear m) were mechanically excavated across the site. No archaeological features or artefacts were identified.
