A test excavation carried out in the townland of Brownstown Lower, County Kildare. The proposed development will consist of a residential development located outside the zone of archaeological potential of three recorded monuments; KD008-070, Barrow, KD028-069, Mound and KD028-002, Barrow.
Six test trenches were excavated. A single plough furrow and a disused field boundary were identified but no other features or finds of archaeological interest were found. A field boundary depicted on the 1st Edition OS matches the location of the remains found. The boundary had been removed before the 3rd Edition OS was published.
