Testing at Trienearagh was undertaken with regard to a planning application to construct a solar farm in the townland c.3km east-south-east of Listowel, Co. Kerry. Thirty-two trenches (T1-T32) which varied in depth between 0.2–0.5m in depth and with a combined length of c.800m, were excavated across the footprint of the proposed internal accessway and temporary site compound of the solar farm. Soil profiles in all trenches consisted of a black to dark grey peat and peat-like silty sandy clay topsoil overlaying sterile light grey silty clay subsoil with moderate to frequent stone inclusions.

No archaeology was found in any of the test trenches.
