Test excavation was undertaken as a part of a planning application to construct a single dwelling house at Slievenavadoge, Tralee, Co. Kerry. The proposed development site encompasses ringfort KE028-055. A series of five 1.8m wide test trenches T1-T5, with a total meterage of c.194, was opened across the footprint of the proposed house, accessway and carpark area. Topsoil was an average of 0.3-0.4m in depth in all trenches and comprised good quality brown loam material that overlay natural material of yellow/grey boulder clay throughout. All of the trenches were excavated outside a 20m buffer zone around the extant limits of the ringfort.
Nothing of archaeological interest was found.
