In 2018 the excavation of the megalithic structure in Killaclohane Wood, Co. Kerry was completed. The larger piece of the broken capstone was raised which confirmed that two portal stones were trapped beneath. The excavation uncovered evidence of substantial disturbance around the front of the chamber and that, as at Killaclohane I, the capstone was raised within a pit from which it had been excavated. This pit had been revetted with large boulders. Evidence for cremation was also recovered. Further analysis of excavated finds and samples is awaited.
