Monitoring of groundworks was undertaken at the rear of the Piscatorial School, Claddagh, during a redevelopment of the building. Excavations of a foundation for a new extension at the rear of the nineteenth-century school building revealed the remains of a stone-built outbuilding centrally located along the rear wall of the site. The outbuilding contained a sub-surface tidal septic tank with an arched brick roof. A wall ran from this outbuilding to the rear wall of the school, defining yard space for boys and girls. There were no finds or features of archaeological interest during the works.
