Intermittent archaeological monitoring took place on the site of the former Charlemont Clinic, Dublin 2, between May of 2017 and April of 2018.
The development area is located in the urban environment of Dublin City. Analysis of the cartographic maps and aerial photography shows that the site has been subject to gradual development for over a period of c. 230 years, with significant development undertaken in recent decades. Evidence of this was found in the form of a shallow layer of post-medieval debris covering the site at a maximum depth of 0.5m below present ground level.
No features or deposits of archaeological significance were identified within the development area during monitoring of groundworks on site. As such, no further archaeological mitigation is deemed necessary.
