No archaeology was found during the monitoring of groundworks in advance of the rehabilitation of the twin foul sewers at Chesterfield Avenue (DCC 3827/15).
Topsoil was stripped from an area measuring 7.2m x 6.2m that would house a new inlet chamber. No archaeological deposits were discovered. One sherd of an early 20th-century English stoneware marmalade jar was recovered from the topsoil.
Topsoil stripping over the route of a new, expanded pipeline was also monitored, revealing no archaeological deposits beneath.
Further excavations at the site were in previously-dug ground above the existing pipeline and chamber. Nothing of archaeological significance was discovered.
