An archaeological excavation was carried out at Donabate, Co. Dublin in advance of a residential development.

The excavation exposed a spread of burnt mound material and associated troughs and pits indicative of probable Bronze Age burnt mound or fulacht fiadh activity. Tentative evidence of an associated shelter or wind break structure was also recorded.

Post-excavation analysis will aim to obtain a date for the activity, which is likely to represent transient settlement dating to the Bronze Age.
