Testing was carried out at 23B Sundrive Park, Kimmage, Dublin 12 in response to planning conditions attached to the proposed development (Planning Ref.:2131/18). It follows a previous desktop assessment report carried out by Brenda Fuller of IAC in January 2018.

The proposed development area is situated within the townland of Tonguefield, within the zone of notification for the city watercourse DU018-043002 (which forms the eastern site boundary). The site was once built up, however these buildings were demolished shortly after 2005. The area remains largely disturbed and covered in concrete and tarmac surface with heavy overgrowth in the north and eastern boundaries. No evidence for archaeological remains were noted during the site inspection.

Three test trenches were excavated in September 2018 which revealed a layer of made ground containing 20th-century debris (glass, pottery, coal, and brick) overlying a plough soil layer, also containing similar modern material.

No features or deposits of archaeological significance were identified during testing and as such the development area is deemed to have low archaeological significance.
