The site (for a single private dwelling) is a green field area adjacent to the junction of Balheary Avenue and the R108 road and approximately 0.88 ha in area. An enclosure (DU011-105) is adjacent to the northern side of the site. The site of the house and the driveway were topsoil stripped by a 14t excavator with a ditching bucket, revealing no archaeological features. The excavated topsoil was used to create a 1.5m high bund on the northern, north-eastern and western boundaries to ensure that no damage would be caused to the adjacent enclosure by construction of a boundary fence.
