Phased archaeological monitoring was undertaken between May 2018 and January 2019 on a site to the south-west of St Joseph's School for Deaf Boys, in Cabra, Dublin 7. A nineteenth-century burial ground adjoins the south-western part of the site, while the nineteenth-century Chapel of St Joseph's Deaf and Dumb institution borders its eastern edge.
The preliminary assessment in May 2018 focused on eight geotechnical pits, while subsequent monitoring of ground works was carried out between October 2018 and January 2019. These demonstrated that modern services had disturbed a substantial portion of the site, while no archaeological features, deposits or artefacts were identified in the undisturbed areas.
