Nine trenches, totalling 260 linear meters, were excavated within the available green space, at the site of a proposed residential development at Rockville House, Glenamuck Road South, Kiltiernan, Dublin 18, in response to planning condition (No. 23b) attached to the development by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council (Ref.: Planning Ref.: D17A/0793). It follows a previous desktop report carried out by Maeve Tobin of IAC in 2017.
The ground in the north of the site appeared to have been heavily scarped historically, probably indicating the line of the original roadway shown on the 18th-century mapping. Evidence for former post-medieval field boundaries, agricultural furrows and land drainage, also indicated on the early modern mapping, were identified in the walled haggart to the south of property. No evidence for archaeological activity was identified at this time.
