Test trenching in advance of a housing development in the vicinity of DU026-009----, ‘Earthwork Site’ and a Protected Structure from the 1880s known formerly as the Kylemore Clinic and previously Caerleon, was undertaken on 26 February 2018. Three trenches were mechanically opened across the site. The trench in the north-west area extended through the constraint circle associated with the monument, the remaining two lay within the south and south-western areas. Apart from a succession of French drains, presumably associated with the occupation of Caerleon, no archaeological deposits were recorded across the site.
