Testing took place on 19 March 2018 in advance of the construction of a domestic dwelling located some 50m to the north-west of the well-preserved and scheduled cashel DOW043:067. Three areas were tested, the footprint of the main house, the line of the sewage percolation area and finally the line of the services and access route.
Nothing of archaeological significance was noted in the course of the testing, with natural, undisturbed boulder clay underlying the plough soil which varied in depth between 0.3m and 0.8m. The variations in the colour of the boulder clay soil matrix can be readily explained by the varying degree of waterlogging which was encountered in the course of the testing. Where the subsoil was relatively dry, the colour was a lighter orange brown; where the ground was waterlogged, the colour was a darker brown.
