The archaeological investigations comprised a programe of mechanically excavated test trenches ahead of construction of the proposed A24 Ballynahinch Bypass.
Two hundred and thirty one test trenches were previously excavated in February-March 2018 under licence AE/18/029. Further landowner access agreement allowed for a further 14 test trenches to be excavated in November 2018.
The archaeological investigations comprised 11 mechanically excavated test trenches measuring 30m x 2m (TT222, TT225-TT233 and TT235) and three mechanically excavated test trenches measuring 15m x 2m (TT148, TT234 and TT236).
Resolution of the remaining eight proposed trenches will take place after the land within the scheme is vested.
No archaeological material was uncovered in any of the trenches.
