Following the demolition of the existing church sanctuary and adjoining church hall to facilitate construction of a new church, concourse, café link and ancillary accommodation, 4 test trenches were excavated by mechanical digger fitted with a toothless bucket. The trenches ranged in depth from 0.3m to 0.7m and all contained modern fill material overlying naturally occurring subsoil, which was an orange stoney clay. No archaeological deposits were identified during the course of the evaluation.
