An archaeological evaluation was undertaken ahead of the proposed construction of a dwelling on lands 46m north of 24 Glebe Road, Castlerock, Co. Derry. The assessment consisted of the excavation of four test trenches across the development site using a back-acting machine fitted with a toothless bucket under supervision.

Topsoil varied across the site from 0.2–1m. For the most part this was removed onto naturally occurring subsoil and bedrock. The exception to this was the eastern end of Trench 3 which contained a dump of stone which filled a hollow between two areas of bedrock. Investigation of the stone dump revealed it to be 0.3–0.4m in depth and directly overlying naturally occurring subsoil. No archaeological features were identified within any of the trenches.
