Monitoring was carried out on 23 July 2018, within the townland of Roughgrove West, Co. Cork, as part of a wider Archaeological Impact Assessment for the proposed construction of a single dwelling-house. The site is within a field containing three previously recorded monuments; two fulachta fiadh at west (CO096-070001- and CO096-070002-) and an unenclosed souterrain to the south (CO096-070003-).

The areas of the proposed dwelling and associated driveway and septic tank/percolation area were monitored. Topsoil ranged in thickness from 0.29m to 0.55m and approximately 50 plough furrows cut the natural subsoil, aligned east-north-east/west-south-west. From documentary sources, these are likely 19th century in origin but no artefacts were recovered. Nothing of archaeological significance was identified.
