A total length of 1548 linear metres of test‐trench were excavated across 2 subject fields. One small linear feature was recorded in three of the trenches. This corresponded with a road/track marked on the Ordnance Survey 6‐inch historic map of the area. It is possible that it represents a roadside gully for the road/track.
No evidence for the road/track was recorded in any of the remaining trenches, suggesting that it has been completely removed prior to test‐trenching.
There was evidence of intensive ploughing with very frequent north-west/south-east orientated cultivation furrows throughout both fields.
