Planning permission has been granted for the development of a mixed use development consisting of 12 Apartments, 2 retail units and 2 office units at 22 Main Street, Ballyclare upon the condition that an archaeological programme of works is implemented in accordance with Planning Policy Guidelines PPS6 BH4 with particular reference to the site being located within the designated Ballyclare Area of Archaeological Potential.
Monitoring of excavation of a single foundation trench located at the north-west portion of the site has been carried out as Phase 1 works. No archaeological material was uncovered during this work. Archaeological supervision throughout the remainder of the development as outlined in an approved Programme of Works is still required during future works associated with the development.
