An archaeological evaluation was carried out prior to redevelopment works at The Cloney, Glenarm, Co. Antrim. The proposed development site is located beside a scheduled monument, ANT 029:006, identified as a Franciscan Friary.

Monitoring of ground works was undertaken. The works consisted of the monitoring of removal of the current ground surface, the excavation of a series of manholes, the excavation of drains within the play park and play pitch and the excavation of the foundations for side walls at the play park. All of these were excavated by mechanical digger fitted with a toothless bucket.

No archaeological deposits were identified during the course of the evaluation.
