Following the demolishing of an existing dilapidated and vacant two-story building at 21 Charles Street, Ballymoney, and ahead of its redevelopment, an archaeological evaluation was undertaken. Three test trenches were excavated using a back-acting machine fitted with a toothless bucket. Topsoil was found to extend to a depth of 0.6–0.8m to the north-eastern end of the site, whilst to the south-west (where buildings were previously located) the building rubble was removed directly onto subsoil. No archaeological features were identified within any of the trenches.
