The archaeological evaluation was undertaken ahead of the construction of 42 residential units, 2 detached and 40 semi-detached, with associated roads and parking on lands east of 19 Gortgole Road, Portglenone. The evaluation commenced on 30 April 2018 and finished on 3 May 2018 and consisted of the excavation of a series of 15 test trenches across the site using a back-acting machine fitted with a toothless bucket to the levels of naturally occurring subsoil or archaeological strata, whichever was highest.
No archaeological deposits were identified during monitoring of the test trenches.
