Testing was undertaken on an 8.67ha site in advance of a residential development. The site is located at the western side of the town of Ashford. Sixteen test trenches (2210 linear metres) were excavated within the site. Archaeological features were recorded at three separate locations within the site (Areas 1-3). Area 1, centred on ITM 726613, 697875, consisted of 5 possible pits, one of which was associated with Bronze Age pottery. Area 2, centred on ITM 726275, 697779 consisted of 3 small circular pits, the largest of which was associated with prehistoric pottery and struck flint. Area 3, centred on ITM 726275, 697779 was a concentration of 4 possible pits associated with Bronze Age pottery. The testing results are interpreted as Bronze Age settlement activity.
